Don't leave any trash, and pick up any you might find.
Do these things and we will all be able to enjoy our lakes, streams, and rivers for generations.
Please remember, The money from the purchase of fishing licenses is what goes to the wonderful trout stocking programs, Building and maintaining of Boat launches and docks, and the overall mainainance of our massachusetts lakes, rivers and waterways. It may seem like It costs a lot of money to buy a license, but It would cost far more to try to replace our precious habitats after they are gone. PLEASE BUY YOUR LICENSE, and if you have any extra dollars this year don't forget mass DFW! To buy and print your licensee for residents and non residents please visit http://www.massfishhunt.com

Stockies are the name of the game right now, although decent pike are still being caught. Bass have slowed dramatically even since the last time I've posted. Now is a great time to grab a silver buddy and target suspending smallies and you never know what else!
Make sure that you flush your engine with antifreeze now if you are still boating! It is getting colder and colder out and a cracked intake is the last thing you want before Christmas!
Broodstock Salmon Stocking Report As many of you know the salmon Hatchery in Bethel, VT was all but wiped out in Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. NO SALMON WERE STOCKED FROM THIS FACILITY. Salmon ARE being stocked from the Palmer, MA facility. However ONLY 60 SALMON will be stocked in the Western MA district from this facility. The District Biologist has not made a decision as of yet as to where to stock the fish. They will either be concentrated into one or two fisheries, or distributed amongst the salmon stocked waters of Berkshire County. I will update this page when I find out.
Many lakes have now been stocked with a good number of fall trout. Fishing is fast and furious on many of the lakes that are stocked. Power bait, spinners, and worms are always sure winners.
Many lakes have been drawn down now for winter. Launching motor boats can be a challenge in many cases. Car-topping can be the way to access many of the lakes you cant get onto now.
Bass fishing has slowed to a crawl. Catching bass can be a tricky endeavor for novice and seasoned anglers. Slow down and think like a fish to catch bass now. Concentrate on the drops and weed-edges to improve your chances.
Pike can still be caught trolling big spoons and spinners. Also live bait will work if you are in the right place. Remember that the pike will come up in the water to feed on the newly stocked trout, so rainbow trout colored swimbiats and spinner baits work great!
